He received his bachelor’s degree in physics and his master’s and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Washington. His main areas of research are distribution system analysis and power system operations. He is currently a principal research engineer at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory for PNNL’s resilient distribution and microgrid analysis team (part of the Lab’s Electricity Infrastructure team)r. He is an adjunct faculty member at Washington State University, an affiliate assistant professor at the University of Washington, and a licensed professional engineer in Washington. He is the past chair of the Distribution System Analysis Sub-Committee and the current secretary of the Analytics Methods for Power Systems Committee (AMPS); formerly known as the Power System Analysis, Computing, and Economics (PSACE) Committee.
Sri Nikhil Gupta Gourisetti is the Energy Systems Cybersecurity Researcher at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) with specialized knowledge and interests in Industrial Control Systems (ICS) cyber security, blockchain technology, software engineering, power systems modeling & simulation, and growing capability in physics-driven machine learning systems. Sri Nikhil's research domains include smart grid systems and connected smart buildings focused on ICS/OT/IoT cybersecurity. At PNNL, he works on several smart grid and connected buildings cyber-physical security projects addressing the resiliency, reliability, and interoperability challenges and needs of critical infrastructure facilities. He is the PI for DOE Cybersecurity projects such as a blockchain–based cybersecurity system for critical infrastructure and transactive energy; Mitigation of External–exposure for Energy Delivery Systems; non-intrusive Cybersecurity tools to enumerate vulnerabilities and threats.
Dr. Ron Melton is the Group Leader of the Distributed Systems Group in the Electricity Infrastructure and Buildings Division, a Senior Power Systems Researcher and Project Manager at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). He is the Principal Investigator for the DOE Advanced Grid Research project for an ADMS Open Source Platform, a member of the core team for the DOE Grid Architecture project, and Administrator of the GridWise® Architecture Council. He was the Project Director of the Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration that concluded in June 2015. He has 10 years of experience in cyber security for critical infrastructure systems and over 30 years of experience applying computer technology to a variety of engineering and scientific problems. Dr. Melton is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a Senior Member of the Association for Computing Machinery. He chairs the IEEE Power and Energy Society Smart Buildings, Loads, and Customer Systems Technical Committee and the Smart Electric Power Alliance Grid Architecture Working Group. Dr. Melton received his BSEE from University of Washington and his MS and PhD in Engineering Science from the California Institute of Technology.
